ICP LOGO
The logo represents coming together in unity & solidarity while preserving the uniqueness of our faith traditions, since while ALL of the rings are interlaced and cannot be pulled apart, yet EACH ring is separate and not linked to any other.
Go ahead. Pick any two rings … even the white one in the center. You’ll see that they overlap – one lying on top of the other – rather than being linked through each other. This is a form of what is called a Brunnian linkage in mathematics.
While any one of the colored rings in the logo could be removed and the rest would stay linked together, if the white center ring is removed, the rest all come apart, so the white center ring can be seen as the ICP or Spirit or the Divine ... whatever you wish, holding us together.
The logo is abstract and does not use religious symbols, since any combination of a limited number of religious symbols would necessarily leave out (i.e. exclude) some religious traditions.
The colors of the logo are symbolically neutral since they are just the primary and secondary colors of the spectrum (with the addition of black & white), not favoring the colors of any particular religious tradition. At the same time, these eight colors include at least some of the sacred colors of all of the religious traditions of which we are aware.
